Getting married is a fun little thing you can do in HoboWars. It is strictly for social purposes, as there are no direct in-game benefits associated with it. You may only have one spouse at a time, so if you later decide you want to marry someone else, you will have to get a divorce first. It costs 10 points to get divorced, so keep that in mind. Same-sex marriages are allowed.

The Marriage Process

The marriage process consists of three simple steps: the ring, the proposal, and the wait.

The Ring

Before you can propose, you must first have a ring.

The most basic rings can be bought from the Punk at the Toy Store with points, while the more elaborate ones can be found at a variety of other places. The ring will stay in your possession after you propose or marry, so choose a ring that is best suited to your hobo's needs and budget.

Being married does not affect how your ring works, nor do you need to be married for your ring to work.

The Proposal

After you have secured a ring, the next step in the marriage process is to propose to the hobo you want to marry.

Rules of Proposing
  • You must have a ring in order to propose to someone.
  • You cannot propose to anyone if you are already married.
  • You cannot propose to someone else who is already married.
  • You cannot propose to yourself.
  • You can only propose to one hobo at a time.

First, go to your Living Area (then click on the Show More Info link near the middle of the page if your hobo is displayed in your Living Area) and click on the [Propose] link next to the Spouse: Nobody list item.

After clicking on the [Propose] link, you will be taken to the Propose to Hobo page.

propos11.png

Simply type in the Hobo ID of the hobo you want to propose to and click the Find Hobo button.

You will be taken to another page listing the name of the hobo you are proposing to and another [Propose] link.

propos12.png

This [Propose] link is the real thing this time. If you are absolutely certain that you want to propose to that hobo, go ahead and click the [Propose] link and a proposal notification will be sent to their Living Area.

notice10.png

You can only propose to one hobo at a time. If you wish to propose to another hobo, you must first cancel your outstanding proposal.

To cancel a proposal, go back to your Living Area (then click on the Show More Info link near the middle of the page if your hobo is displayed in your Living Area) and click on the [Cancel] link next to the Married to: Proposed to (Hobo's Name) list item.

The Wait

If the hobo you proposed to accepts the proposal, you two become married!

If the hobo you proposed to denies the proposal, you will have to find someone else to propose to and try again.

Divorce

Perhaps after being married for a while you decide it is best to end the marriage. Maybe your spouse has gone inactive and you want some new companionship, or maybe some hot young thing has caught your eye and you want to dump the old hag you are married to. No problem!

Divorcing your spouse is a very simple process, however it will set you back 10 points. If you do not have 10 points, you cannot get divorced.

Go to your spouse's Living Area and click on the [• Divorce] list item located above their Citizen Information section. You will then be directed to a confirmation screen. If you have the points and are absolutely certain that you want to go ahead with it, click the confirmation button to continue.

Marriage dissolved, simple as that.
