Training Your Hobo

In HoboWars training is essential. If you want to advance in the game and make your hobo a stronger fighter or more productive beggar, you will need to train. Training your hobo can be done in different places depending on what level he or she is. The places where you will be able to train are Elementary School, High School, and University. Each one of these locations has a level range for your hobo to be able to train at them. The level requirements are as follows:

Levels 1-10 may use the Elementary School for free. Training costs 5T and does not have high gains.
Levels 10-25 may use the High School for 10T and $20 per train with slightly higher gains than the Elementary School.
Levels 25+ may use the University for $50 and 10T per train with the highest stat gains possible.

Each school also has its own entry fee. This entry fee is a one-time fee after which the only cost is the fee per train.

As you can see, there is a one level over lap between each school. This allows you to check out the next higher school before you are unable to train at the current school any more. The things to look at before going to the next school are time available (the university takes longer to train at because you have to do more than just click) and money available (the jump from elementary to high school can be costly if you don't have a good source of income).

Stats to Train

At each school you can train the same four stats. These are Intelligence, Strength, Power, and Speed. The last three have to do with fighting. The first one (intelligence) affects many different facets of the game.

The fighting stats are explained in detail on the fighting page.

Intelligence

Intelligence is the only stat in the game that has a cap. It is capped at 1,000. This cap is actually a good thing because otherwise people would keep training their hobo's intelligence forever. It is that good of a stat to have.

The ways that intelligence helps are numerous. Intelligence help increase the experience that you get from a fight, the money that you collect while begging, the stat gain that you get with each train in school, the amount of money that you can sell your cans for, the money that you win for beating the Old Man, and the health point gain with each level. It is for all of these reasons that getting your hobo's intelligence maxed out is so important.

    • Could someone please put in the table for me?**

Training Strategy

The best way to maximize your training seems to be to train your hobo's fighting stats just enough that you can level up to 10. If you seem to be attacked a lot, you may want to stop at 9 just so that if enough hobos attack you and lose, you don't accidentally get bumped up to level 11. Once you are level 10, stay at the elementary school and train your intelligence all the way up to the max of 1,000. This way you maximize the use of the elementary school (level does somewhat have an affect on how much you gain each train). Once you have 1,000 intelligence, you can begin your career of fighting and/or begging. After 1,000 intelligence, you should have plenty of money coming in to pay for training at the high school.

Don't try to train your intelligence past the 1,000 mark. Doing so will just waste "T".

Another strategy to max out the intelligence faster would be to fight your way straight to the university and then train only intelligence. The training will move very quickly this way.

--I disagree on maxing Intel at Level 10. Level up to 25 and max Intel in the University, it'll take half as long.

--Reaching level 25 quickly is easy if your gang is willing to loan you a 200 set and you train your speed up a little. Trining intelligence will be much quicker from here.

University Game

University

Training at the university is slightly different. There you will play a game to see exactly how much benefit you get from your training. You play a game with colored balls. The rules of the game are fairly simple. You score is tallied at the end. Basically, try to get lots of green balls and few red balls. The scoring of the balls is as follows.

Green - +1 point Yellow - 0 points Red - -1 point
