In the past, many a moon ago, there was a time of great turmoil. Our lands were torn apart, as the wrath of Malord came down upon a great scourge. He came and cleansed our Earth and left a wake of destruction that all felt.
In less dramatic terms, the Audit was a purge of various game abusers. A series of slightly damaged codes allowed players to multiply their donations to their gangs. Of course, this could all be easily tracked and for several weeks, and Malord and Andy went through the gang news looking for abuse.
The Rise
- In the beginning, there was nothing. Someone figured out that they could easily multiple their winnings by abusing a lagging function in the gang donation area. They used it to multiply points and cash to outrageous amounts. As a result, the point market crashed, as the volumes of currencies expanded exponentially. For the most part, this rise was hidden -- no one talked, no one was caught.
- But the rise never lasts; it always tapers.
The Wrath
- Someone narced.
- Instantly, all gangs were frozen; there were no gang fights and there were no Armory transfers. You couldn't run if you wanted to. All was stuck. The logs were sifted through, looking for the signs of abuse, and they were found in abundance. Many fell as Malord and Andy began purging the system of these evil types.
The Aftermath
- Genesis(96), an elite gang who was quite central in the mythos, fell dramatically. Nearly every member was jailed for their crimes. Many had their stats reset. But life goes on. Since then, there has not been a problem of such magnitude.
