The Onion Ring is a ring that gives you a chance to sprint in battle. The chances of you sprinting are dependent upon the amount of your respect stat.
Also, like most rings, it provides raw stat bonuses that are dependent upon the amount and type of your respect stat.

Specific Details
For negative/positive respect, the Onion Ring gives you +[ 25 + 50(R–RANK) + TRB ] Attack/Defense and Speed.
It also gives you a (R–RANK)% chance to sprint in battle. A "sprint" is a round in a battle where your speed roll is multiplied by 2.5 and then increased by 1000, i.e. [ 2.5(SPEED ROLL) + 1000 ]; therefore, a sprint can help you hit an opponent that is much faster than you.
