You can only own one type of rat cage at a time; when you purchase a different one, the one you currently have gets thrown out with no refund and replaced by the new cage. So, no, you can't have five three-slot cages or one three-slot cage, one two-slot cage, and one one-slot cage. Therefore, it is highly recommended to buy a two-slot cage if you a non-donator or a three-slot cage if you are a donator.
